The Rotary Dictionary Project is proving hugely successful. Started in 2008 as a joint venture between the Bill and Lorna Boyd Trust and the Rotary Club of Pakuranga, it has spread nationwide with most clubs participating. The students treasure receiving and writing their names in their dictionary copies. An added literacy benefit is that the whole family gains, as the dictionaries are taken home.

The dictionary selected is the hard-cover Usborne illustrated Dictionary. It has a reading age of approximately nine years, has English spelling (not American), and contains over 1,000 full-colour illustrations.

This is intended as an annual ‘ongoing’ project for clubs - presenting them to each year’s intake of year four students.

The Rotary Club of Auckland Metro has started participating in and supporting this great project since the Rotary 2019-20 year. We have donated and supported nearly a hundred dictionaries in that year.

所選詞典是Usborne精裝插圖詞典。它的閱讀年齡約為9歲，使用英式拼寫（而非美式），包含超過1,000幅全彩插圖。這是一個每年持續進行的項目，將詞典贈送給每年四年級學生。

大奧克蘭扶輪社自2019-20年度開始參與和支持這個偉大的計畫。在那一年，我們捐贈並支持近百本詞典。
